A conflict occurs when personal, financial, or professional interests interfere with duty to the clinic.
Examples:
- Referring patients outside for personal gain
- Receiving gifts/benefits from vendors
- Using clinic resources for personal work
- Working elsewhere without approval
- Personal relationships affecting judgement
- Employee Responsibilities
- Disclose conflicts immediately.
- Avoid accepting gifts or commissions.
- Do not promote outside services for personal benefit.
- Do not perform dental work elsewhere without permission.
- Management Responsibilities
- Review disclosures fairly.
- Guide employees on resolving conflicts.
- Take corrective action when needed.
- Prohibited Conduct
- Any action harming the clinic’s reputation or financial interests
- Using confidential data for personal gain

SUBSTANCE ABUSE POLICY

To maintain a safe, healthy, and professional workplace.
- Zero-Tolerance Policy
Prohibited on clinic premises:
- Alcohol use or possession
- Illegal drugs or controlled substances
- Reporting to duty under influence
- Misuse of prescription medication
- Prescription Medication Guidelines
- Employees must inform management if medication affects alertness.
- Privacy will be maintained.
- Signs of Substance Abuse (Internal Guidance)
- Absenteeism
- Impaired coordination or speech
- Erratic behaviour
- Reduced performance

Management may request evaluation when reasonable suspicion exists.
